TBR: September 2021 (Magical Readathon Edition)

Hello, everyone! I can’t believe it is already September! The six month anniversary of my blog is approaching quickly. The time really flies. I’ve decided to participate in another readathon this month after having so much fun with the Trope-ical Readathon last month. The Magical Readathon is happening throughout September, and it looks amazing. The organizer created an entire world and story for this readathon, and I am excited to get to make my own character for it. It is also much more my speed with only seven prompts. So, I’m fairly certain I can complete them all.

TBR: August 2021 (Trope-ical Readathon Edition)

Hello, everyone! This month’s TBR post is going to be quite different from previous ones because I am participating in the Trope-ical Readathon. For this readathon, I’ve picked books corresponding to 15 different prompts (or their alternates), which are based on common tropes found in fiction. I decided to join Team Fantasy this time because I love the genre and plan to read mostly fantasy this month. The team book also caught my eye, which clenched the decision and rounded out my TBR with 16 total books. You can find out all about the readathon here, and you can still sign up through August 8th. So, if it sounds like something you’d be interested in, go sign up!

Here are all of the common challenges/prompts:

TBR: July 2021 Reading List

I kept up with the pace I set for last month, but I think I’m going to slow down my reading even more this month. I’m also planning to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo. So, a lot more of my time will be devoted to working on my own writing and creative projects. I’ll be giving weekly updates on my writing progress in addition to keeping everyone updated on my reading progress. I might even give some glimpses into my WIP over the course of the month.

In total, I plan to read 8 books in July 2021. I may end up reading more than this, but I don’t think I will because most of my extra time will be spent writing.

TBR: June 2021 Reading List

I did okay with the pace I set for last month, and I actually finished my TBR before the end of the month. So, I plan to keep the same total of expected reads for this month. Given that it is Pride month, I plan to read and review only books with LGBT authors or characters in June. If you follow my blog at all, you know I regularly read a ton of these stories anyway, but I want to do something special to commemorate the month.

In total, I plan to read 10 books in June 2021. I may end up reading more than this, but I don’t think I will because I don’t want to get burned out.

My list for this month includes the following books:

TBR: May 2021 Reading List

I struggled a bit keeping up with the pace I set last month. I also decided to swap some books out so I could read others. Overall, I felt rushed and somewhat stifled because of the commitments I made, which is not how I want to feel about reading. So, I’ve decided to do things a bit differently this month. I am going to set both a lower number goal and a shorter list goal, which will hopefully give me a little more flexibility.

In total, I plan to read 10 books in May 2021. I may end up reading more than this, but I don’t want a repeat of the rushed feeling I felt last month.

My list for this month includes the following books:

  • The Other Side of Magic by Ester Manzini (eARC)
  • REPLAY by Trevor Morris (eARC)
  • Reality Testing by Grant Price (eARC)
  • The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner (Hardcover)
  • Star Wars: Doctor Aphra by Sarah Kuhn (Hardcover)
  • Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas (Hardcover)

There will obviously be others, but I want the flexibility to pick them based on what I’m feeling like reading at the time. I also intend to read more comic books this month with a goal of completing at least two volumes of something. I just haven’t decided yet exactly what I want to read.

What do you plan to read this month? Do you ever feel stifled by your TBR goals?

TBR: April 2021 Reading List

After the success of last month, I’ve decided to set another lofty goal for April. I’ll also be participating in a month-long professional conference. So, hopefully I’ll still be able to keep up with all my reading. I plan to read 12 books this month. As part of that, I hope to finish the rest of the released Time Lord Victorious media. The rest of my list is a mixture of fantasy, science fiction, YA, and speculative fiction. I also plan to finish the one book I didn’t get to finish from last month, Star Wars: Victory’s Price.

My list for this month includes the following books:

  • Foretold by Violet Lumani (ARC e-book)
  • A Song of Steel by J.C. Duncan (ARC e-book)
  • The Broken Heart of Arelium by Alex Robins (ARC e-book)
  • The Lore of Prometheus by Graham Austin-King (ARC e-book)
  • The Year Before the End by Vidar Hokstad (ARC e-book)
  • The Immortal King by Jason Malone (e-book)
  • Genetics of the Daleks by Jonathan Morris (audiobook)
  • Mutually Assured Destruction by Lizzie Hopley (audiobook)
  • Into the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas (hardcover)
  • Victory’s Price by Alexander Freed (hardcover)
  • 2034: A Novel of the Next World War by Elliot Ackerman & James G. Stavridis (hardcover)
  • The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune (hardcover)

March 2021 Reading List

Now that March is halfway finished, I’ve decided to set some reading goals for the second half of the month. I’m trying to read more, and I’ve found setting concrete goals helps me consistently increase or maintain the amount of reading I do. So, here goes… By March 31, I plan to read the following titles:

  • Genex of Halcyon by Joshua Stelling (ebook)
  • Thurmond’s Saga by Robert John Mackenzie (ebook)
  • The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune (physical copy)
  • Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious: All Flesh is Grass by Una McCormack (physical copy)
  • Star Wars: Shadow Fall by Alexander Freed (physical copy)
  • Star Wars: Victory’s Price by Alexander Freed (physical copy)
  • Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious: The Minds of Magnox by Darren Jones (audiobook)

In case you haven’t noticed, I love Doctor Who and Star Wars. 🙂 Needless to say, I have a pretty busy couple of weeks ahead of me, but I am looking forward to all of these books. Now I just need to make it happen!

How do you make sure you meet your reading goals? I’d love to hear some suggestions!
