WWW Wednesday (116) – January 8, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

I’ve already managed to finish my first two books of 2025. Things are off to a pretty good start this year. I did start these in 2024, though, but they still count. 🙂

Flopping in a Winter Wonderland by Jason June – 3.75⭐– I enjoyed this cute Christmas YA MM romance. The characters showed a lot of growth, and I appreciated how it illustrated different ways of coping with attachment problems and how to heal after a traumatic abandonment. The setting of this story was both cute and really weird. I didn’t particularly care for the factory town vibes of the Christmas theme park. The team up of the main characters to sabotage the romantic plans of a side character was entertaining. Their whirlwind romance did feel a bit too fast, though.

The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri – 4⭐ – What an ending! I love this series so much, and this book proved to be a satisfactory, and sometimes emotional, finale. It did have some pacing issues, especially in the beginning, but it wrapped things up well. See my review for all of my thoughts!

What are you currently reading?

Breath of the Dragon by Shannon Lee & Fonda Lee (11%) – The prologue of this book hit me in the feels. I am already heavily invested in the main character and his family despite only being a few chapters into the book.

The Hunter’s Gambit by Ciel Pierlot (62%) – I’ve been wanting to read this one, and my library finally got the audiobook. When I started it, I noticed how low the average rating is on Goodreads and The StoryGraph. It made me a bit nervous. However, I’m actually enjoying the story quite a bit. It is basically a locked castle escape adventure filled with scheming vampires. I’m curious to see how it ends and determine for myself whether the low ratings are warranted.

Stranger Skies by Pascale Lacelle (8%) – I still haven’t picked this one back up. Maybe once I finish Breath of the Dragon I’ll get back to it?

What will you read next?

Here is where this month’s TBR currently stands. I’ve finished one of my choices and have started two others.

This means that I’ll probably be getting to one of these books next:

Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland, The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune, The Rules of Royalty by Cale Dietrich

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!

  1. Looks like your reading year is off to a great start! I’m hoping to finally re-read Jasmine Throne this year so I can finish this series. I’m excited to see that you found the ending satisfying. Also can’t wait to see what you think of Breath of the Dragon! Aah, I love Fonda Lee. 😍 Happy reading!

  2. Yay, I also finished two books that I started in 24! It totally counts, haha. I’m planning on starting Lotus Empire, once I finish Lightfall. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I have Breath of a Dragon on my TBR, I hope you enjoy it!!
