Hello, everyone! Today I’m doing the New Year’s Book Tag! This tag was originally created by booktuber Heather @Bookables.
How many books are you planning to read in 2025?
I’ve decided to keep my 2025 Goodreads goal the same as the last few years at 100 books. I’ll likely end up reading more than this again, but we’ll see how the year goes.
Name 5 books you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2025.
There were so many great releases in 2024, and I wasn’t able to get to so many of them. Here are five that I plan to prioritize this year. However, my track record with this question is pretty bad. I didn’t read any of the five books I chose last year for this answer. lol.

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, The Last Hour Between Worlds by Melissa Caruso, The Gods Below by Andrea Stewart, The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne, Yield Under Great Persuasion by Alexandra Rowland
What genre do you want to read more of?
I can’t think of a specific genre I’d like to read more of this year. I was pretty happy with my reading variety last year. It was stuffed with fantasy, as usual, but I also read a decent range of other stuff, too. So, I guess pretty much anything other than fantasy would be the category I’d need to increase.
Name 3 non-book-related goals for 2025
- Finish settling into my new house. I moved in December. My wife and I are slowly getting everything unpacked. There are still some boxes left in our garage that we need to go through. I also have a lot of stuff that needs to be hung on the walls.
- Create my LEGO room in the basement. I plan to buy and build shelves in the basement for all of my LEGO sets. I’d love to have that finished by the end of the year, along with fixing/rebuilding the sets that fell apart during the move.
- Visit a new state. Now that I live in a different part of the country, I’m surrounded by states I’ve never visited. I’d love to take a trip and see some new sights.
What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

I’ve wanted to read Doctor Who: At Childhood’s End for years. My physical copy has languished on my shelf for far too long. It has been quite some time since I’ve read a Doctor Who novel. Hopefully, I’ll pick this one up soon.
One word that you’re hoping 2025 will be
I hope 2025 is STABLE. My 2024 was a bit all over the place. I’d like something a bit quieter. The incoming U.S. administration also has me on edge because the people involved seem to thrive on chaos and hate. So, I just hope my life and the world around me stays somewhat stable this year.
I won’t be tagging anyone in this one, but if you would like to participate, feel free to do so. Be sure to link your New Year’s Book Tag post down below if you do because I’d love to read them. 🙂
Great post! I forgot this tag existed but I think I want to do it again soon, even if we’re well into Jan already, lol. What you said about people thriving on chaos and hate is so accurate and it’s exhausting so I feel your word for 2025! I hope you find the quiet and stability you need this year 🙂 Happy reading as well!
Thank you, Dini. I’m trying to limit my news and social media intake in order to keep my peace. I just don’t have the mental energy to deal with all the hate that seems to be so rampant right now. I hope we both have a great year!
Great post, I loved The Familiar and hope you enjoy it. Good luck with your goals 😊
Thank you! I’ve been wanting to pick it up since it came out. So, hopefully I’ll manage to get to it soon.
The books you listed as missing out on in 2024 are also on my list. They’re not on my latest blog post, but I want to try to read those books, too!
It is really hard to make a list of them because there were so many books I didn’t get to in 2024. I hope we manage to read and enjoy some of them this year! 🙂
Stable.. yes– so much yes. My 2024 was insanity and one of the worst years ever. I’m hoping for a more calm and stable 2025 too! <3 A lego room!! Very cool. We are lego obsessed. We have this huge nook in our basement where the kids have all their toys. Our plan is to slowly convert it into a lego room as they outgrow some of the bigger toys. We just set up our first book case. haha. If any book out of your top 5, please read Fury of the Gods!! It's fantastic!! Have a great 2025, Chris!
Yes to the LEGO room! It is such a fun hobby, and I love the sense of accomplishment after finishing a build. I still need to order the shelves, but I’m basically turning half of our basement into a huge LEGO display. I cannot wait to finally have room for all of my stuff.
Very cool!! My 5 year old is obsessed. I can’t keep up with him! He basically got all Legos for Christmas. He’s almost finished with them. I’m talking about HUGE sets that are for 10+. We just had a family lego weekend this past week. We all got a set out and worked on them. It’s the best! I took the long weekend, but finished The Milky Way set! Enjoy creating your display room!
