I’m so glad that May is finally over. I’ve been in a funky mood and have had some things going on that have been eating up time that I’d rather spend on reading or blogging. I had a few doctor appointments and needed to have a colonoscopy done for the first time. It was definitely not the most pleasant of experiences. Luckily, they found nothing serious, which means I get to have even more tests to investigate potential causes of my symptoms. Yay! /s I am grateful for the thoroughness, though. It is honestly strange how differently I’m treated now that I’ve had a rare cancer. Every single symptom is investigated with multiple tests to make sure there’s not some other weird thing going on. I feel so special. lol.
My wife has continued her job search, and everything just feels like it is in limbo. We will likely be moving somewhere new before the end of the year, but I have no idea where we’ll be yet. It has me on edge, and I’m just ready to know what’s going to happen so I can start planning. On the bright side, I found out IKEA finally delivers to our home, which means I could purchase some bookshelves I’ve wanted from there for a long time. I spent a week building them and still need to work on getting the base boards re-installed. I actually have extra space on my shelves for the first time in forever. I’m sure it won’t last long. 🙂
What I’ve Read

Comic Books
One of my goals for the year is to read more comic books. I set the arbitrary number at 100 floppies, but I’d love to read way more than that this year because I am years behind on issues at this point. Unfortunately, my comic reading took a major hit this month because of everything I had going on. I didn’t read any comic books in May. Hopefully I can get back on track for June…
Progress On My 2024 Reading Goals
This year I am keeping things much simpler. I don’t have as many specific goals to track and am just trying to go with the flow. I do want to keep some sort of record of the trackable ones, though. So, here’s a quick peek at how my year is going so far.
- Goodreads Challenge: 78/100 books (+13 in May)
- Storygraph Pages Challenge: COMPLETED!!
- Read from My Shelves: 27 books [21 physical, 6 audio] (+4 in May)
- Books Unhauled: 17 sold on Pango (+1 in May)
- Read Comic Books: 40/100 floppies (+0 in May)
- Read Pre-2024 ARCs: 2/14 ARCs (+1 in May)
Final Thoughts
I didn’t post on the blog as much as usual in May because of a lack of motivation and time, but you can find all of the stuff I wrote this month in my blog archives if you are interested in checking it out. However, I did add quite a few books to my shelves in May, which you can see in my book haul post.
Overall, I had a good month of reading when considering the quality of the books. My average rating was 4.27 in May. My favorite book in May was You Should Be So Lucky. What was your favorite book from May? Let me know down in the comments!
Thank you to everyone who has visited the blog and engaged with comments and/or likes! I appreciate all of you and always enjoy reading your input in the comments. I hope everyone is having a great June!
Sorry to hear about all of the hospital stuff. It’s great that they are being so thorough but a pain that you still have to have more tests. Glad that you had a good month of reading in May
Yeah. I’m glad they are being thorough because that was not the case last time, which led to a decade of misdiagnosis and eventually my entire lung needing to be removed. I’m hopeful it is nothing serious, but I’d rather be as sure as possible.
Wow, I’ve only read one of those. Will add a few to tbr. As for the life stuff, wish you the best, hope this limbo-like streak goes away soon.
Thank you! I hope so, too.
