WWW Wednesday (136) – June 25, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

Here is a look at the three books I’ve read since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:

The Palace of Illusions by Rowenna Miller – 4⭐– I really liked this book. The setting was exquisite, and I enjoyed getting to explore Paris in 1900 through the eyes of the protagonist. The plot had some problems, though, but they didn’t outweigh how swept away I was by the setting, characters, and writing. You can find all of my thoughts in my review!

Into the Light by Claudia Gray – ???⭐– I haven’t settled on a rating for this one yet. There were lots of things I liked about it, but something about the writing just felt off. I hope to have a review finished within the next couple of days.

The Robin on the Oak Throne by K.A. Linde – 3⭐– This story felt like it was spinning its wheels. I was quite bored through a great deal of the middle and even found myself nodding off a couple times. I did find the exploration of the FMC’s memories interesting, though, and the rushed ending set up what is sure to be an explosive conflict in the next book. Some of the details in the spice also gave me the ick. I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series.

What are you currently reading?

The Incandescent by Emily Tesh (17%) – I went rogue and decided to start this book for my book box pick this month even though it wasn’t any of the options I listed in my TBR post. I’ve been super excited to read it, and my beautiful Owlcrate edition showed up earlier this week. So, I couldn’t resist. I am loving the story and characters so far. Exploring a magic school from the eyes of the administrator is just such a fun POV.

The Listeners by Maggie Stiefvater (39%) – I made some progress on this one in the last week. It started out a bit slow, but Stiefvater’s signature style is ever present. Her writing always completely sucks me in, and this book has been no exception.

What will you read next?

All three of these choices are ARCs. Two of them are overdue, and the other is publishing in a couple of weeks. I’d love to get through them all in the next week, but I’m sure I’ll probably get off track again. lol.

The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton, The Nightshade God by Hannah Whitten, Engines of War by R. S. Ford

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
