Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
Here is a look at the two books I’ve read since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:

The Incandescent by Emily Tesh – 4.5ā– I adored this book. Stories set at boarding schools are some of my favorites, mostly because it gets me thinking about my own boarding school days. The ones from the POV of the teacher are especially fun to read. The FMC in this book was really great. She was obsessed with her job and determined to be the best in her field. The romance didn’t take up as much space in this story as I expected, and I ended up being happy about it. Sapphire’s journey was entirely her own, but I did love seeing her relationships with the students and others around her. What isn’t to like about the struggle to educate young people without pulling your hair out, all while doing your best to keep a demon from eating the school? lol.

The Listeners by Maggie Stiefvater – 4ā– Stiefvater’s writing was great in this book, as always, and I loved the setting so much. The characters grew on me over the course of the novel, and I liked where everything ended up. The pace was a bit sluggish at times, but overall, I really enjoyed this one. See all my thoughts in my review.
What are you currently reading?
The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam by Megan Bannen (13%) – I’m not too far into this one, but I am enjoying it so far. I am a little bummed that there’s such a time jump since the last book, though. The focus on the difficulties of immortality should be interesting, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the story does with it.
Engines of War by R.S. Ford (31%) – So far, this book has the makings of an epic conclusion to the trilogy. The guilds and the religious leaders are posturing for the final battle, and all of the characters are finding their place in it. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
God of Neverland by Gamma Ray Martinez (24%) – This book was an impulse purchase years ago, and it has been sitting on my shelf ever since. The cover called to me, and I’m always down for a new take on Peter Pan. It is good so far. The story is definitely plot-heavy, and I wish there was a bit more focus on the character work. However, the pace is quick, and the story is interesting. We’ll see how the rest of it goes.

What will you read next?
Two of these choices are library books that I need to finish, and one of them is an ARC. The Magicians is actually a re-read that I plan to do on audio so that I can move forward and finish the series.

Battle of the Bookstores by Ali Brady, The Nightshade God by Hannah Whitten, The Magicians by Lev Grossman
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
Great looking books. I enjoyed watching The Magicians and kept meaning to look for the book!
Have a great week!

I haven’t seen a lot of people talk about The Incandescent but what I’ve seen has me wanting to get my hands on it immediately! š I still haven’t read the second book in that Bannen series but does that also take place in a different time period from the Hart & Mercy? I hope Rosie & Adam’s story ends up being great though. Happy reading!
I really enjoyed The Incandescent and just getting to live in the headspace of a teacher for a bit. The second Bannen book takes place not too long after Hart & Mercy, but there is a 10-year gap between books 2 and 3.
