All of my motivation to keep book buying to a minimum disappeared this month, which you’ll see below. I went a bit overboard. I actually think I bought more books this month than the first three months of 2022 combined…and that’s not counting the ARCs and library loans. To make matters worse, I’m officially out of shelf space. So, I have no where to put the new books other than a giant stack. I really wish we had bought the house with all the nice built-ins in the library. It would make my book addiction a lot easier to accommodate. Oh well.Read More »
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Hello, everyone! Today I have the pleasure of reviewing Elektra by Jennifer Saint. I’ve been meaning to get to Ariadne, which is also by this author and has received quite a bit of praise. So, I was excited to be approved for an eARC of this novel and get my first taste of Saint’s work. I’m also a sucker for mythology retellings, especially of Greek mythology, and was super pumped to see this take on the story.Read More »
Hello, everyone! Today I’m reviewing Blaine for the Win by Robbie Couch. I’ve seen wonderful things about Couch’s first book, The Sky Blues, all over Twitter. I actually have it on my shelf but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. So, I was excited to be approved for the ARC of this book and push it to the top of my TBR.Read More »
Hello everyone! Welcome back for another Top 5 Tuesday! The prompt for today is the top 5 books about a death. Quite a few books came to mind for this one, but these five really stood out to me (probably because of recency bias…lol…but seriously I really liked all of these). Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted at Meeghan Reads!Read More »
Hello, everyone! Last month I had fun with my first post of micro reviews. I had several more books that weren’t ARCs that I needed to review and not enough time to write out full reviews for them all. So, I’ve decided to do some more super short summaries of my thoughts in four sentences or less. Here’s the result…Read More »
Hello, everyone! Today I’m reviewing the second book of the Hush duology, Veil by Dylan Farrow. I wasn’t super impressed with the first book, but I agreed to review this ARC due to its really cool premise before realizing it was a sequel. Did this sequel improve or worsen my experience with the overall story? Read on below to find out!Read More »

Hello, everyone! Today I’m reviewing the sci-fi novella Rosebud by Paul Cornell. I stumbled across this one while perusing NetGalley one day and was intrigued by the synopsis. I didn’t really know what to expect going into it, and saying it defied my pre-existing notions of what it might be like would be an understatement.Read More »
Hello, everyone! Today is my stop on TheWriteReads blog tour for the BBNYA 2021 winner, May Day by Josie Jaffrey. I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, hence the spotlight rather than a review, but it sounds fantastic and is definitely now on my TBR!Read More »
