Magical Readathon Fall 2024 Equinox

The start of September means it is time again for one of my favorite readathons, Magical Readathon. Classes at Orilium resume on September 1, and my character has the month to try to get good grades while also maybe going on some side quests. We’ll see how motivated he is… lol. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can find more information about the Magical Readathon Fall 2024 Equinox in this term’s announcement video. Now let’s jump into some character background and the books I hope to read to satisfy my course requirements this month.

BBNYA 2024 – Books I’ve Added to My TBR from Round One

BBNYA 2024 Panelist Banner

Hello, everyone! Today I’ve got a special post. I’m participating as a panelist for the BBNYA 2024 competition. Some of my favorite excerpts didn’t make it through the first round. So, I thought I’d take some time to spotlight them and hopefully help them find a home on some new TBRs. 🙂 Each of the covers links to the book’s Goodreads page.

BBNYA is an annual competition that is hosted and judged by book bloggers from all over the world. The goal is to help indie authors make themselves known. You can find more information about the competition on BBNYA’s website. The full list of entrants for this year can be found on Goodreads. It is a great resource for expanding your indie TBR!

Monthly Wrap-Up: July 2024

I am definitely glad to see the end of July. It was a rough month for a lot of reasons, including COVID, shingles, and roof leaks. You can read all about my woes here. Some things have gotten better, but the first part of August has sucked, too. lol. Shingles is no joke, ya’ll. I had the misfortune of developing it on my face/mouth. It is still not 100% better, but most of the sores have healed up. Now I just have to wait for the nerve pain to (hopefully) get better.

On the blogging front, I managed to finish all of my BBNYA round one excerpts despite all of the chaos. There are some phenomenal books in this year’s competition, and I’ve added quite a few of them to mount TBR. I did plan to write a post about my favorites that didn’t make it through round one, but it never happened because I wasn’t feeling well. I might still manage to get something up eventually. We’ll see. I was a bit more consistent with my blogging in July, at least until I started feeling very unwell. My blog hopping and engagement took a nosedive, though, with everything going on. It still hasn’t really recovered, but I’m hoping to be back to normal soon.

Book Haul – July 2024

My book haul for July 2024 was pretty epic. I haven’t been feeling the best over the last few weeks. I have a tendency to overspend when I’m not feeling well, and this time has been no exception. lol. I spent a lot of money on resale special editions in July and managed to pick up some REALLY beautiful books. I snagged The Broken Binding editions of The Goblin Emperor and The Lies of Locke Lamora, as well as the Page and Wick edition of The Sword of Kaigen. Many of my new books this month also came from the used bookstore. So, I’ve rationalized my purchases by believing I’m helping the environment by keeping them out of landfill. 🙂

You can see everything I added to my shelves down below. The book covers link to Goodreads in case you want to learn more about them. Be sure to check out what I hauled in June, as well.
