I was doing great at keeping my book purchases down for the first couple weeks of this month. Then the BOGO 50% off all hardbacks happened at B&N, and all my plans got derailed. I also got approved for quite a few eARCs this month, many of which are sequels that I am very excited to read. Overall, it has been a great month of book acquisitions, and I’m happy to have them all even if it has caused my TBR to continue ballooning uncontrollably. lol.

I finished THE UNDERTAKING OF HART AND MERCY a couple of nights ago and really enjoyed it! HEART OF THE SUN WARRIOR is definitely on my TBR and I just got approved for it on NG, so excited about that. And, based on your review, I checked out JUNIPER AND THORN from the library. It’s currently sitting on my nightstand, but I hope to get to it this month. I only have 2 more ARCs due this month (3 if you count the one that hits shelves on 9/1), so I think that hope is achievable!

I’m glad you got Heart of the Sun Warrior too! I’m really curious to see where that story goes next. I hope you like Juniper and Thorn. It definitely won’t be for everyone because of the traumatic material it includes, but it is one of the best depictions of the mental state of an abuse survivor that I’ve ever read.

Yea, very curious about Juniper and Thorn. I usually have a pretty tough constitution, but I don’t think I’ve read anything that delves deeply into what you’re describing. The closest thing I can think of is the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy, but I think even that might be a little different. I just realized today it’ll be my next read since it’s due 8/15 at the library haha.

Awesome haul! I also got my hands on Garden of Empire the other day and I can’t wait to read it cos I wrote a whole essay for how much I loved Hand of the Sun King 😂 I’m ridiculously excited for The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and I’m so keen to get my hands on it. I hope you enjoy all the books you still have left to read!
