Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
The Ivory Tomb by Melissa Caruso – 5⭐ – I adored this finale to the Rooks and Ruin trilogy. It was absolute chaos and so thrilling. I thought the end was extremely satisfying, and I’m amazed Caruso was still able to add such nuance to this world after five other books. Read my review for all my thoughts!
Angels Before Man by Rafael Nicolas – 3⭐ – I have mixed feelings about this book. I thought it worked well as a metaphor for religious trauma. The angels as characters and the world-building of heaven just didn’t really feel alien enough for me. I wanted more from it. The story dragged at times, too. It did hit on an emotional level, though, and I did feel for Lucifer and the other angels. I’ll pick up the sequel eventually because I am very curious to see the author’s take on the birth of humanity and Lucifer’s perspective on the garden of Eden.
Doctor Who: Ravagers by Nicholas Briggs – 4⭐ – I was itching for more Doctor Who after the new season was so short. I decided to pick up this audio drama because I’ve always wished there were more stories with the Ninth Doctor. This didn’t disappoint. The production and acting were great, and the story was appropriately timey wimey. I’ll definitely be picking up more of the Ninth Doctor adventure audios.

What are you currently reading?
The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons (5%) – I’ve barely started this one, but I’m enjoying it so far. Dragons angry about treason and characters that can body jump into giant lethal animals? Sign me up. This definitely feels like it will be a good time. Although, some of the world-building has been a bit clunky. So, we’ll see.
Navola by Paolo Bacigalupi (8%) – This is another one that I’ve only just begun. I’m not quite sure where it is going or what the point is yet. Honestly, I’m a bit bored with the start of it, but I’ll give it a little more time to capture my interest. The world-building has been good, and I am somewhat curious to learn more about the setting. I’m hopeful the story will pull me in more as it goes along.

What will you read next?
These are all ARCs that I really need to get reviewed. So, I’m hoping I’ll pick at least one of these up in the coming week.

The Fire Within Them by Matthew Ward, The Girl with No Reflection by Keshe Chow, The Enchanted Lies of Celeste Artois by Ryan Graudin
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
I really want to read Angels Before Man, I love those types of themes in stories, though too bad it didn’t exactly deliver what you wanted! Good luck with catching up on your ARCS! 🙂
I need to get caught up on arcs too, haha. I have 6 I need to finish for August.
