Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
I finished three books since last Wednesday! Hopefully, I can keep this pace up and finish the month strong. Now, on to the books…
I Think They Love You by Julian Winters – 4⭐– This was a solid adult debut for Winters. The exes to lovers and fake dating tropes were handled really well, and I was rooting for the main characters. I also related hard to the main character’s struggles with not feeling good enough. It was really well written. I didn’t love the setting being primarily in a party planning company. The characters took the business so seriously, and I just had a hard time doing the same. That’s more of a me thing, though, because I don’t really get that business or that world. The family being treated like celebrities for owning the business just seemed odd to me.
Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett – 4.75⭐ – This conclusion to the series was everything I’d hoped it would be. Check out my review for all of my thoughts!
Heavenly Bodies by Imani Erriu – 4.5⭐ – How had I never heard of this book before stumbling across it on the Libby app? Apparently, it was a recent Fairyloot pick, but I haven’t seen anyone talking about it. I absolutely DEVOURED this book. The yearning!!! The tension!!! The enemies to lovers goodness!!! This book had it all in abundance with some fascinating magic and world-building, as well. If you enjoy romantasy, give it shot!

What are you currently reading?
Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao (21%) – I’m not quite sure what to make of this story yet. The writing is really beautiful with an almost surreal quality. The premise is a fascinating one, as well. I’m just not sure how I feel about the characters yet. I feel very disconnected from them.
Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli (0%) – I’m about to press play on the audiobook of this one as I am writing this post. I am SO EXCITED to finally get the conclusion to this duology. I loved book one and can’t wait to see how the story wraps up.

What will you read next?
Here is where this month’s TBR currently stands. I’ve finished three books and am on to another, which means I’m over halfway done with my planned reads. I should hopefully be able to finish them all before the end of the month… 🙂

As the month wraps up, I plan to focus on 2024 ARCs, library books, and ARCs publishing in early March:

Rebel Blade by Davinia Evans, The Resurrectionist by A. Rae Dunlap, Once Was Willem by M.R. Carey
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
I’m so glad to hear that you loved Emily Wilde’s conclusion! I have it on hold at the library, hopefully it’ll come to me soon!!
I hope you get it soon and love it as much as I did. 🙂
You’ve made me excited for HEAVENLY BODIES! It was indeed a FL pick. There was lots of excitement about it in the comments when autumnbooks revealed her guess on IG. But you’re right—it’s been crickets on the parts of IG & blogosphere I frequent.
I enjoyed it so much that I actually went and bought the FL edition on Mercari. It cost a fortune, but it is such a beautiful book. Maybe the hype died down after the announcement because most of those people had already read it? The whole series was originally self-published.
Chris… you have to like Water Moon because I just bought it last week! lol I just went and added Heavenly Bodies to my TBR. I might just add it to my library because it’s a 15 week hold at the library!! It sounds like something I need to read right now. haha. I have seen good things about Rebel Witch. I need to start the first book soon, since this is wrapped up!
So, I liked Water Moon but didn’t love it. I think it would have worked better for me without the romance. I hope you love Heavenly Bodies when you get to it. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. It really took me by surprise.
Well shoot! I’m going to have to force myself to read it soon or I never will. lol I got the book because I thought the fact that you could make origami from the cover was so cool. lol I was a sucker for the marketing.
Ohh, I want to see your thoughts on Once was William. It sounds really good! I’m reading The Reformatory right now and I’m hoping to dive into Empire of Silence next.
I plan to start it soon. I’m going to try to get a review up by the publication date… I hope you are enjoying your current reads!
[…] finished two books since last Wednesday! I also managed to DNF another book, my second one for this year. I’m slowly getting better […]
