Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.
This week’s theme is Top Ten Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had. I almost skipped this week because I wasn’t really feeling this topic, but I had a lot of fun with it once I sat down to think about it. There are so many book-related superpowers that could make my life much easier and help me tackle the never-ending TBR. Here are ten that I’d love to have:
- I want to always remember my spot in my current read. I am always scrounging for things to act as bookmarks, and it’d be so much easier if I could always just know where I left off.
- I’d love to be able to read via osmosis. I enjoy the journey of reading a good book, but there are definitely times I’d like to just absorb the information or know what happens without needing to spend all the time to get through the book. This would really help with getting through my never-ending TBR, too.
- I hate being almost to the end of a book and needing to stop to charge my reading device. So, I’d love to make it so that my Kindle never dies.
- I’m incredibly anal about how my books look and keeping them in good condition. I wish that I could make it so that my books never get damaged.
- I hate needing to put down my book to sleep or do work. I’d love to be able to stop time and always be able to read just one more chapter for as long as I want.
- I wish I had the power to avoid 1 and 2 star reads forever.
- I really need the ability to create a pocket universe where I can have never-ending shelf space. I’m always running out of room for my books.
- I’d love for my reading progress to automatically update on Goodreads and Storygraph.
- It would be really cool to be able to remember everything about each book I’ve ever read. I’m always forgetting character names or plot details.
- I wish I had the power to never need to wait for a book again. No more Libby queues. No more weeks-long shipping times. Also, no more waiting for the next book in a series. They are just all instantaneously available whenever I want them in whatever format I prefer. It would be glorious. 🙂
There you have it! Ten bookish superpowers I wish I had. What book-related superpowers would you love to have the most? Let me know down in the comments!
Neverending shelf space would be amazing.
I really NEED it. lol. I just rearranged my shelves a couple of days ago, and I still have stacks of books everywhere that have no place to go.
I completely know the feeling. I’ve filled all our current shelves and am in a debate with my husband about adding another lol
A kindle that never dies would be great!
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Being able to avoid 1 and 2 stars read would be amazing!
It really would. I’d love to avoid the disappointment.
I wish I could absorb books via osmosis, too! And I totally feel (like really really get it) wanting to just keep reading rather than having to put the book down for work/adulting. ðŸ˜
Osmosis would make getting through some stuff so much easier. I almost always wish I could keep reading without needing to stop. So, I’d definitely be taking advantage of that power a lot.
That is a brilliant list of superpowers. I certainly want unfillable shelf space so that I always have room for new books and I would love to be able to remember the plots and characters for when I read sequels.
I just finished re-arranging my shelves a couple of days ago, and I really, really could use the never-ending shelf space.
After the reading month I have had, I would LOVE to avoid 1- and 2-star ratings and dnfs. It’s been a month lol.
Oh no. I hope it gets better and you’re able to find something you enjoy reading.
Thank you!
Same for #9. I always forget.
Yeah. It is a struggle, especially when it comes time to read sequels…
I am always losing my bookmarks, so just being able to remember where I left off would be great
I agree. I have so many bookmarks, but I always forget to use them. I’m always searching for random things to stick in the book to save my spot.
Haha, I hear you on #2. Sometimes there are books I’m curious about and I want to know how they end… but I don’t want to take the time to get there, somehow.
My list!
Right?! It would be so awesome to just absorb that information and move on.
Reading through osmosis would have been a massive help in school. My mom used to joke that my sister and I both read The Scarlet Letter that way because she always found us asleep face down in the book.

🤣 Yeah. It definitely would have been a massive help in school, especially the ridiculous amount of reading in grad school. I could’ve actually had a life while pursuing my degree. lol.
My book club only read self-help books, and I really wish I could read those via osmosis. They’re not tons of fun to read.
Yeah. I think osmosis would help me get through a lot more nonfiction, in general. Reading that many self-help books honestly sounds kind of awful. I’m not really a big fan of them.
Reading via osmosis would be amazing! Love the rest of them as well. A few are similar to my list.
It would make getting through some books so much easier!! 🙂
This is such a great list! I almost skipped this week too but I had fun coming up with some super powers, although they’re not half as creative as your superpowers. I’m totally with you on #4! That would be the most amazing superpower cos I hate when my books get damaged, especially in this tropical weather. 😂
[…] on the cover. Have you read any of these? Let me know down in the comments! Be sure to check out last week’s topic if you missed it. […]
