First Lines Fridays (89) – March 29, 2024

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Book Review – To Cage a God

Hello, everyone! Today I’m reviewing To Cage a God by Elizabeth May. This was the book in the February 2024 Illumicrate box, and I was looking forward to reading it after seeing it recommended for people who liked Shadow & Bone. The special edition had really beautiful sprayed edges and gorgeous endpaper art that made me even more excited to pick it up. Did the content of the book live up to its stunning package? Read on to find out!

The Greek Gods Book Tag

Last month, I was tagged by Dini @dinipandareads to do The Greek Gods Book Tag. I had so much fun reading her answers, and I immediately began thinking about what my own might be. I finally finished deciding on them. So, let’s get down to it!

The Rules

  • Pingback to Zuky here so she can read all your posts!
  • You can use her graphics if you like, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
  • Tag as many people as you want, but please share the love.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books on My Spring 2024 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday - Books Set in a School

Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.

This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on My Spring 2024 TBR. I made a goal to not really do TBRs this year because I wanted more flexibility to mood read. I also still haven’t finished the winter TBR I set back in December. Although, six out of ten books isn’t too bad. Right? So, this is more of a possibility pile than an actual TBR. Some of these are ARCs I need to read and others are books that have been on my shelves for far too long. The covers link to Goodreads in case any of them catch your eye!
