Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.
This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Had VERY Strong Emotions About. While preparing this list, I’ve definitely come to realize that I enjoy torturing myself with the books I read. lol. Most of these stories caused a lot of strong difficult emotions, like intense sadness, anger, or anxiety. Maybe I need to focus on comedy for a while. I’ve included emojis down below with the book titles to indicate the range of emotions I felt while reading each book. The covers link to Goodreads in case any of them catch your eye!

Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland (😏😂), More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera (😭), Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee (😲😰😭), Stars in Your Eyes by Kacen Callender (😢😟🤨), The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang (😧🤬😭)

Into the Light by Mark Oshiro (😱😢), Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin (😲😭), Half Lost by Sally Green (🥺😠🤬), The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer (🤯😨🤔), Alone with You in the Ether by Olivie Blake (😰😬😢🙂)
There you have it! Ten books I had very strong emotions about. Have you read any of these? Let me know down in the comments!
Love how you’ve gone with the emojis! I went ahead and just looked at the books that made me ugly cry and I had Silvera and Kuang on my list today as well 😂 I totally felt the same way about Jade Legacy and Tomorrowx3 too though! Those definitely make it into my super ugly cry list, lol.
Thanks! I started out naming the emotions but got bored with it and decided to switch to emojis. I had a lot of fun trying to figure out the right ones to convey how I felt. 🙂
Dragon Republic sounds interesting on the title alone! My list is here. 🙂
It is definitely a great book that had me feeling all sorts of things. 🙂
Interesting list there’s quite a few I’d like to read, namely Running Close to the Wind which I keep seeing everywhere these days and The Darkness Outside Us.
Running Close to the Wind was hilarious. I just finished it earlier this week and had a great time with it. The Darkness Outside Us is one of my favorite books. If you decide to read it, I highly recommend going into it with as little knowledge about the book as possible.
I am so glad to hear that it was hilarious, I need more funny books in my life. And okay awesome, noted! I do like to go into books blind sometimes.
