January 2025 Hopefuls (AKA My TBR)

Monthly TBRs are back! I stopped doing these because 2024 was my year for mood reading. I love lists, though. So, I’m going to try to create some balance by making some plans while also leaving a good deal of flexibility in them. Let’s take a look at my January 2025 hopefuls. Here we go!

January 2025 hopefuls: 2024 ongoing read, Onyx Storm, 2025 ARC, The Hunter's Gambit, 2024 ARC, Five Broken Blades

Okay. I settled on reading at least six books because it feels doable. I managed to read five books in November and December while moving. So, six books shouldn’t be too much of a stretch. Right?! To keep things flexible, I’ve split the TBR into two parts: chosen books and categories with a range of potential hopefuls. January’s chosen books are Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, The Hunter’s Gambit by Ciel Pierlot, and Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland.

2024 Ongoing Read

When 2024 ended, I still had a few books going at that time. I’m hoping to finish all of them in January, but at the least, I’d like to finish one of them.

The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri, Flopping in a Winter Wonderland by Jason June, Stranger Skies by Pascale Lacelle

2024 ARC

This will probably be a category in every TBR I do this year because I am SO far behind on reading ARCs. Here are a few I hope to get to soon:

Rebel Blade by Davinia Evans, Witch Queen of Redwinter by Ed McDonald, The Rules of Royalty by Cale Dietrich

2025 ARC

I also need to get started on some 2025 ARCs before I get even further behind… Here’s a few that I hope to pick up soon.

Breath of the Dragon by Shannon Lee & Fonda Lee, The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune, Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett

Well. Those are my January 2025 hopefuls. I’d love to read everything listed on this page, but that is unlikely. If I make it through six of them, I’ll consider January to be a success! Do we have any hopefuls in common this month? Happy reading!

  1. I love that you’re making an effort to go back and read a 2024 ARC ( which I need to do big time!), and I love the idea of labeling your TBR spots like that😁 Good luck!

  2. I really enjoyed Witch Queen of Redwinter and thought it was a great end to the trilogy. I’m hoping to read Onyx Storm sometime in February. I’ve also seen a couple of great reviews for Breath of the Dragon so that has to be fitted in somewhere too.
I hope that the unpacking is going well and that the boxes are being emptied. Do you have bookshelves yet?

    • I’m so glad to hear that Witch Queen of Redwinter is a good ending. I’ve enjoyed the first two books, and it would be a bummer if the last one fumbled it.

I do have bookshelves. We actually moved all of my shelves across the country with us. Thankfully, most of them survived the journey. I’ve already got them in place and mostly filled. lol.
