Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
Here is a look at the books I’ve finished in the last two weeks since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:
Voidwalker by S.A. MacLean (4.25⭐) – I really enjoyed this book. The characters and their dynamic were so great, and I was really invested in their struggle. It has been quite a while since a book had me sobbing, but this one did it. I was full on ugly crying, and it came out of nowhere. No spoilers, of course, but one part of the book just broke me. My only complaint is that the book was a bit too long. Things did seem to drag at times, but I was never not enjoying myself while reading.
A Steeping of Blood by Hafsah Faizal (3.5⭐) – I mostly enjoyed the conclusion to this duology. I did think it was better than the first book. There was plenty of action, and each of the characters had a pretty great arc. Although, I hated the ending for one of the characters. It felt like a cheap stunt thrown in at the last minute to elicit emotion. I guess it worked, though. The emotion was just annoyance. lol.
All Souls Lost by Dan Moren (3.5⭐) – The little I have to say about this one can be found in my review. I enjoyed it well enough. It just didn’t feel very original.
All of Us Murderers by KJ Charles (5⭐) – This shouldn’t be a surprise, but I loved this book! Charles is one of my favorite authors, and this book was an excellent example of why. The atmosphere, plot, and characters were all so interesting, and the second chance romance was well-written with a good pace to it. Check out all of my thoughts in my review!
Higher Magic by Courtney Floyd (4⭐) – This could easily have been a five-star read for me. The only thing holding it back was the world-building. Even after finishing the book, I have no idea how the magic works or what the main character’s dissertation was about. lol. It either went right over my head, made no sense, or both. The anxiety rep was really good, though, and I liked how the story tackled the topic of ableism in higher education. Most importantly, what’s not to love about a story that prominently features a talking skull?

What are you currently reading?
Redneck Revenant by David R. Slayton (23%) – I’m loving this new Adam Binder novel so far. I was curious to see where things would go now that the first trilogy is over. The new direction is interesting, and I’m loving that Adam and Vic actually get to be together in this one.
The Thorns Remain by JJA Harwood (43%) – This buddy read with Celeste has been going well. I love when the fae are up to no good, and they are truly sinister in this story. The writing in this is really great, too. Although, I hate that it doesn’t have chapters.
Jade City by Fonda Lee (38%) – I’m finally caught up on the chapters for the first two weeks of this group buddy read. This is my first time re-reading the book, and I’m enjoying it a lot. Unsurprisingly, I still hate Bero. lol. I’m curious to see if the one part of the book that is rapidly approaching will break me like it did the first time. It is just so easy to get sucked into this family, and their tragedies just stab me straight in the heart.

What will you read next?
I’ll be starting The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown today because my library hold became available. It has been ages since I’ve read a Dan Brown book. I think I missed the most recent Robert Langford book. So, hopefully that won’t cause any problems reading this one. I also need to read my ARC of the new Tasha Suri book, and I’m dying to pick up my recently delivered pre-order of the new Freya Marske novella.

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
I didn’t even realize Dan Brown was still writing Robert Langford stories until I saw this one pop up a couple weeks ago while browsing. I remember liking what I read in high school, but idk that I feel like reading the books I’ve missed since Angels & Demons. I’d have to reread things!
It looks as though you’ve had a good week of reading. I definitely need to look out for the K C Charles book. I really don’t like books that don’t have chapters and that might put me off reading that one. How do you know when to stop reading??????
I’m looking forward to the new Dan Brown book. I’m going to get it for Christmas (I had pre ordered it so it is ready to be given 😂).
It’s a shame about the world building in Higher Magic. It annoys me if I don’t understand the full reasons why things are the way they are 😂
Enjoy your current reads!
Have a great week!
