Mid-Month NetGalley Check-In – August 2021

I’ve made some progress on my ARCs since the last NetGalley check-in. Check out where I was a month ago in my last check-in post. My feedback ratio is back up to 71%, and I read the two ARCs I planned to complete in the last month. I’ve completed 15 ARC reviews out of the total 21 for which I have been approved. I now have five unread books available to read on my shelf since I was approved for one ARC and read two ARCs in the last month.

The books below are those currently needing to be read on my shelf. I plan to read and review the books in bold before the next check-in on September 15.

Trope-ical Readathon: Update #2

This readathon is almost halfway over, and I’m actually on track! I’ve finished a little over half of my TBR. I finished another four books this past week and started on a fifth. I completed four challenges (Historical Figure, Multiple POV, Found Family, and Post-Apocalyptic). I also started my book for the ‘Published Before 2000’ challenge and read a little more of Blood Animus, which also counted toward my overall word count/points total even though it is not part of my TBR. So far, I’ve accumulated 3481 points since the readathon began. I plan to complete the two team fantasy challenges this week and finish the book I’ve already started for the ‘Published Before 2000’ challenge. I’m going to try to read a fourth book, as well, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to since both of the books I picked for the fantasy challenges are pretty big chonkers.

First Lines Fridays (18) – August 13, 2021

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!
