Hello, everyone! I saw Celeste @ A Literary Escape do this tag recently, and it reminded me that I still hadn’t done it. So, I’m a bit late to the party for the Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag again this year because I forgot all about it. Oh well. lol. In case you’re interested, I also completed this tag back in 2023 & 2025. The original tag was created by Roisin @Roisin’s Reading over on BookTube.
How many books have you read so far?
I’ve read 47 books so far this year!!!! My pace has been approximately the same as last year. So, I should have no problem reaching my goal of 100 books for the year. I’m currently 17 books ahead of schedule. 😊

Have you already found a book you think might be a 2026 favourite? If not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars?
I’ve had three 5-star books so far this year. Apparently, it’s just my year for amazing MM romance novels because all three belong to that genre.

Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian, Last First Kiss by Julian Winters, Role Model by Rachel Reid
Any 1-star books / least favourite book of the year?

My answer here shouldn’t come as a surprise if you read my post on Tuesday about Honor & Heresy by Max Francis. I’ve been waiting to read this book for years, and it was so much of a disappointment that I couldn’t even finish it. 😞
Most read genre so far?
Queer fiction comes out on top of the StoryGraph genre graph, but I don’t really consider it a genre, more a type of representation. So, Romance & Fantasy are tied so far for my most read genre. This is actually a huge surprise. Fantasy has always easily taken the top spot in this category. So, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out over the rest of the year.

A book that surprised you?

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Forged for Royalty by Andrew Knighton. I liked the first two books in the trilogy, but they were a bit mid. This finale, though, was really great and actually improved my opinion on the other books and the series as a whole.
A book that’s come out in 2026 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?
There are quite a few I’m hoping to get to read soon. Here’s a look at some of them…

Infinite Shores by Pascale Lacelle, The Geomagician by Jennifer Mandula, Weavingshaw by Heba Al-Wasity, Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett, Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Stothers
One goal you made that you’re succeeding at
I’ve been doing quite well at reading books from my book box subscriptions. Dini and I have been buddy reading a lot of Illumicrate books for the last few months. I’ve managed to read 6 Illumicrate editions so far this year, which is crazy good considering how there have been some years where I haven’t even read that many special edition and subscription purchases in an entire year. lol. Hopefully, we can keep it up for the rest of the year!
One goal you made that you need to focus on
Ugh. I really need to do better at buying fewer books. Like, seriously. I bought three new bookshelves at the beginning of the year, and they are almost all full. Pango and the B&N preorder sales are my downfall, and every time I visit the city closest to me (~1 hour away), I always come home with a stack of book from Books-a-Million thanks to their robust bargain section. lol.
New to you Bloggers/Booktubers/ Bookstagrammers/Booktokers for 2026 you recommend?
I feel kind of horrible about this, but I haven’t been doing much blog hopping or exploring of new blogs this year. I’d like to do more of it, though. So, if you have a new blog or some new blogger friends that you’d like to shout out, tag their site in the comments so that I can visit. 😊
That’s it for the Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag. I don’t plan to tag anyone since I’m a bit late to getting around to this one. However, if you decide to participate, please link back to this post so that I can see your answers. 🙂 Happy reading!
