First Lines Fridays (90) – April 12, 2024

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books I Acquired in March 2024

Top Ten Tuesday - Books Set in a School

Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.

This week’s theme is a freebie! So, I’ve chosen to highlight my Top Ten Books I Acquired in March 2024. I usually do a book haul post each month with everything I’ve added to my shelves, but I haven’t kept up with all my purchases… So, I’m just going to use this week’s freebie to highlight some of my favorite March acquisitions instead of rummaging through all my receipts. Half of these are actually ARCs, too. March was a REALLY great month for ARC acquisitions. There’s just so many great new books coming our way soon. The covers link to Goodreads in case any of them catch your eye!

Monthly Wrap-Up: March 2024

I’m not really sure what happened to the month of March. It just flew by! The weather was finally not horrible, and I managed to get some landscaping work done. I pulled weeds and planted some new rose bushes. I also had lots to do around the house, including getting some new faucets installed and making sure our air conditioner is ready for the brutal summer ahead. I also had a couple of medical follow-up appointments that all went fine. All in all, it was a pretty productive month. Most importantly, I read a bunch of books… So, let’s jump into talking about them.

Magical Readathon Spring Equinox 2024

The start of April means it is time again for one of my favorite readathons, Magical Readathon. Classes at Orilium resume today, and my character has the month to try to get good grades while also maybe going on some side quests. We’ll see how motivated he is… lol. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can find more information about the Magical Readathon in this term’s announcement video. Now let’s jump into some character background and the books I hope to read to satisfy my course requirements this month.
